Just wondering...
This morning as I walked around outside filling bird feeders and tossing corn out for the squirrels, I was wondering if it makes the squirrels mad to have me throw the corn out into the yard so that is scatters and goes everywhere. I wonder if they ever are out there, gathering up all the corn and nuts that they can, and as they do so, they are grumbling to themselves, "Why can't she just put it in one big pile instead of scattering it all over like that? This is really annoying to have to run all over the yard, getting the corn one piece at a time. If she put it out in one big stack, I could just scoop it all up at once and take it home."

FINALLY, WE HAVE A GARDEN
Better late than never, I guess. We finally got around to planting a few herbs and veggies in our garden today. We made it MUCH smaller than we have been--so it should be a lot easier to maintain.

The cats over the holidays
BIRDS AND SIGNS OF SPRING
Today I heard one of my favorite sounds--the sounds of birds chirping and singing. We have lots of birdseed and corn out from when we had all the snow. They have been out in the garden either finding early bugs or seeds that have blown there. I saw a Blue Jay and a Robin Red Breast among many others. When all the black birds and crows show up it always reminds us of the movie, "The Birds."
Yesterday I was outside talking to Bob and we saw some plants getting starting to come up. We always worry that they will freeze since it's January but they must know what they are doing because we never lose them. I'll have to go out and look to see if there are signs of the daffodils yet. They always come up early.

CHARLY
Well, Charly, our gypsy cat, has moved out again. I call him a gypsy because he and Shawn move around so much. Shawn has been doing some short-term leases for the last several months and when Charly can't go with him, he brings him to us. Then, when he finds a new place that allows Charly, Shawn takes him back! We love Charly and I am missing him so much. He was at our house at least a month. We got so used to him being there. It's strange coming into the house and he's not there.
